Technologies of a society

Technology assessment mostly considers technical, social, economic and ethical aspects. From a perspective focussing on social and cultural science, the socio-cultural context would also have to be brought up more in detail. This will open up new approaches to topics that have been little explored until now.

Society is the starting point

Social issues are the main focus for technology assessment that concentrates on social and cultural science. Topics may be taken from a work area (e.g. administration), from everyday life (e.g. the elderly) or from innovation (e.g. economics). To be able to deal with such practical issues, knowledge of social and cultural science is required.

TA-SWISS is increasingly integrating viewpoints based on cultural and social science into its projects. But projects are also being launched that selectively investigate technologies which focus on society and social aspects.
