Technology Assessment Oriented to the Arts and Social Sciences (SoKuTA )

Together with available raw materials and know-how, social and cultural preferences and traditions within a society also affect the way technologies evolve. Conventional technology assessment (TA) has so far paid scant attention to such factors. In socially and culturally oriented TA (SoCuTA), however, these aspects should be placed at the centre of things. In 2006 TA-SWISS published a basic report on this new approach. Subsequent SoCuTA projects will build on the findings and recommendations of the basic report.
